Rebuilt by local architect Joze Plecnik after it was almost completely destroyed by an 1895 earthquake, Ljubljana—Slovenia's capital, and Europe's greenest city—combines original medieval, Baroque designs with more innovative elements from its early 20th-century reconstruction. The emerald-green Ljubljanica River bisects the city center, dividing the modern-day commercial section to the west from the Baroque section, with its ancient castle ruins, to the east.

Arrive early in Venice before your main adventure

Begin your Italian adventure with additional time in Venice, also known as the "Floating City." Famous for its intricate web of canals, Venice is home to iconic sites like the arched-stone Rialto Bridge, St. Mark's Square, and the Jewish ghetto. Of course, it wouldn't be a trip to Venice without experiencing the 900-year-old tradition of gondola transport.

Please note: Airport transfers are only included for travelers who purchase airfare through O.A.T. Travelers planning their own airfare can purchase airport transfers through O.A.T. if needed.
