Pacing
- 6 locations in 13 days with two 1-night stays and some early mornings
- 3 overland drives of up to 5 hours, some of which are on unpaved or bumpy roads
Physical requirements
- Not appropriate for travelers using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids
- You must be able to walk 3 miles unassisted and participate in 6-8 hours of physical activities each day
- We reserve the right for Trip Experience Leaders to restrict participation, or in some circumstances send travelers home, if their limitations impact the group's experience
- You may encounter animals on this trip. We make every effort to keep these encounters safe, however animals may behave unpredictably or dangerously at times. Please use caution when interacting with animals on this trip: Keep a safe distance, stay alert, and respect the animals
Altitude
- Brief travel to elevation of 12,000 feet and overnight stay at 7,200 feet
Climate
- Costa Rica has a tropical climate with high temperatures at lower elevations, high humidity, and moderate-to-heavy rainfall.
- At higher elevations, temperatures can drop to 30°F at night
Terrain & Transportation
- Travel over rural streets, unpaved roads, and rugged paths and trails
- Travel overland on 22-passenger air-conditioned minibus and 25-passenger boat
- 3 drives of up to 4 hours
Accommodations & Facilities
- We stay in hotels, eco-lodges, and villas
- All accommodations feature private bath and hot showers
- Some accommodations do not have air conditioning
