“Thank you again for taco night and the donation of the guitars. We loved having Grand Circle here and the kids are here now playing the guitars.”

— Susan Kagan, Executive Director, Christopher’s Haven

In August, five associates from our Boston headquarters had a rocking evening with the children, families, and staff at Christopher’s Haven. Christopher’s Haven is a non-profit organization that acts as a beacon of support and comfort for families with children undergoing cancer treatment in Boston and Atlanta.  Locally, they manage nine fully furnished apartments and a welcoming community space (known as The Loft).

Strategically situated near major medical centers in Boston, these facilities provide families with convenient access to their child’s treatment while offering a comfortable apartment setting, allowing them to stay together during this difficult time. In addition to accommodations, the Loft community space regularly hosts activities for residents to foster a family atmosphere as they navigate the challenges of treatment together. This provides companies like Grand Circle with opportunities to provide a meal and share unique talents—like playing music—with children and their families during community service events.

In honor of her completed treatment, 5-year-old Clara added her handprint to the ceremonial tree.

On this evening, we were fortunate to join 5-year-old Clara, in a special Christopher’s Haven tradition: the bell-ringing party. Each time a patient completes their treatment, they place a ceremonial palm print on the cancer-free tree while bells are rung in celebration. Residents, families, staff, and volunteers were in attendance to show their support.

Associate AJ Galvin demonstrated his technique for the children.

Grand Circle catered the event with a make-your-own taco bar. We also brought the healing power of music by donating two acoustic guitars and jamming with the children! We hope these instruments will bring joy to the residents at Christopher’s Haven for years to come.
