Rebuilt by local architect Joze Plecnik after it was almost completely destroyed by an 1895 earthquake, Ljubljana—Slovenia's capital, and Europe's greenest city—combines original medieval, Baroque designs with more innovative elements from its early 20th-century reconstruction. The emerald-green Ljubljanica River bisects the city center, dividing the modern-day commercial section to the west from the Baroque section, with its ancient castle ruins, to the east.

Explore Croatia’s medieval capital, divided into two distinct parts: the Upper Town (Gornji grad) is Zagreb’s historical jewel box, where landmarks like the Gothic St. Mark’s Church and the 18th-century Parliament building reside. Its Lower Town (Donji grad), meanwhile, is home to many of the city’s cultural and modern-day touchstones, including art museums and cafés.

Please note: Airport transfers are only included for travelers who purchase airfare through O.A.T. Travelers planning their own airfare can purchase airport transfers through O.A.T. if needed.
