The O.A.T. Difference: Africa
Small Groups: No more than 14 travelers, guaranteed.
Unbeatable Value: Travel at the lowest price and per diems in the industry.
People-to-People Experiences: Spend A Day in the Life of the Alur tribe. Primarily a farming community, the Alur also support their village through fishing, raising livestock, and blacksmithing. During our visit, we'll learn about and take part in some daily activities. We may even witness villagers building or repairing their homes using traditional mud and grass thatching techniques. We’ll also join a local Uganda family for a Home-Hosted Lunch, for a taste of home-cooked cuisine, and a glimpse into daily life in the countryside.
O.A.T. Exclusives: We'll learn about the education system of Uganda as well as the hopes and dreams of its next generation during a visit to Bigodi Primary School, supported in part by Grand Circle Foundation.
Customize Your Experience: Join the 72% of travelers who extend their time abroad. Add the pre-trip extension to Tanzania: The Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti Private Tented Safari; the post-trip extension to Kenya: Lake Naivasha & Lake Nakuru; or both of these extensions to your Rwanda & Uganda adventure—when you do, you’ll travel in the company of the same Trip Experience Leader throughout your trip for a seamless experience, and enjoy more time to develop bonds with your fellow travelers.
Local Trip Experience Leaders and Regional Office Expertise: Explore with a Rwandan or Ugandan Trip Experience Leader, who is fluent in English and trained by O.A.T. on the skills needed to bring travelers off the beaten path to meet with locals who share their cultures and traditions with us. Plus, follow an itinerary that’s been carefully crafted by O.A.T.’s Arusha office—opened in 1999.
Join the growing number of solo travelers reserved on upcoming departures of this adventure—traveling independently or sharing a room with a mother, daughter, sister, or friend.
Safety & Security: You'll have the guidance and support of your expert Rwandan Trip Experience Leader throughout your entire trip—as well as our regional office in Arusha, which is available and ready to help you and your group 24/7.
Travel Solo, But Never Alone: On average, almost half of your group will also be traveling independently, so it’s easier to forge special bonds as you experience unforgettable moments together during your adventure. Plus, your Trip Experience Leader can help connect you with fellow travelers who share your common interests.
FREE or low-cost Single Supplements: Free or low-cost Single Supplements are offered on all O.A.T. adventures and are FREE on pre- or post-trip extensions—a savings of $900-$1,100 per person compared to other travel companies. See available single space here »
