How do you know if you’ve found a comparable adventure?

  • Does their trip visit the same or similar locations?
  • Does their trip include the same or similar number of meals and included tours?
  • Does the company operate each departure with no more than 16 travelers (or 24 travelers for a Small Ship Adventure)?
  • If it’s a safari trip, does it include a similar number of game-viewing drives and nights in safari lodges or tented camps?
  • Prices vary by season—does their trip depart in the same month as ours?
  • If their trip has internal flights, are they included in the price?
  • Does their trip price include gratuities for local guides, drivers, lodges, and camp staff?

  • Does their trip travel along the same route, with the same or similar ports of call?

  • Does their trip include the same or similar number of days, if not overall per diem (per-day) cost?
  • Would you be traveling on a privately owned or exclusively chartered ship?
  • Is any included airfare arranged by the company itself or a third party (Kayak, Travelocity, etc)?

Please note: To request a Best Price Guarantee match, a traveler is required to present to an O.A.T. Regional Adventure Counselors their requested O.A.T departure date and proof of the potentially comparable trip (details about base program pricing, specific departure date, any Single Supplement fees, and other taxes and fees). A traveler may be asked to submit a photocopy or screen shot of the potentially comparable trip to O.A.T. as part of the claim review process. A traveler is not required to have reserved their departure at the time of contacting O.A.T; however, they are required make a deposit on the O.A.T. departure in question before submitting their Best Price Guarantee claim for review. O.A.T reserves 2 business days to review claim details and respond. For trips outside 120 days of departure, a traveler must initiate their Best Price Guarantee claim within two weeks of reserving the O.A.T departure; for trips within 60-120 days of departure, within three business days of reserving; for trips within 60 days of departure, within 24 hours of reserving. Determination of whether a trip qualifies as comparable, and determination of comparable small group tour companies, is at the sole discretion of O.A.T and the criteria are subject to change.
