Optional Tours

During your trip, you will have the opportunity to join optional tours to further your discoveries—all of which are noted below. Most of these tours can only be reserved onsite with your Trip Experience Leader, however due to limited space and other special requirements, some optional tours must be reserved before your departure from the U.S. If this trip has optional tours that need to be purchased in advance, they will be noted with a disclaimer below.

Kayaking

Day 4 | $200 per person

80c67aa654ff440c9c86b05e0136ca7a

Alongside a kayak master, set off through Antarctica's unspoiled waters in a one- or two-person ocean kayak. Your kayak master will help you navigate the ice flows as you makes your way through the water channels that will bring you close to nature. Prior to your excursion, you’ll be briefed on how to maneuver your craft and will be equipped with a spray-skirt, drysuit, insulated rubber gloves and pogies, a lifejacket, neoprene booties, and a drybag for your belongings. Then, you’ll travel by Zodiac to an ideal starting point, where you’ll transfer to your kayak and begin your journey. In a small group of fellow adventurers, you’ll paddle past glaciers and through narrow fjords—and may even see penguins diving into the sea or whales breaching the water's surface—with an experienced guide leading the way. A safety driver will also be close by to provide assistance if needed.

Please note: Kayaks and protective wet gear are provided by the ship. Travelers are encouraged to wear warm clothing—including thermal base layers, a sweater, wool socks, a neck warmer, and a warm hat—as well as sun protection, including a brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Some previous kayaking experience is recommended, and agility and balance are required for transferring to the kayak and maneuvering with the paddle.

This optional tour is only available on select departures and is be subject to the weather conditions. Space is limited and can only be reserved onboard the ship.
