Our Activity Level rating system ranks adventures on a scale of 1 (easiest) to 5 (most difficult) to help you determine if a trip is right for you. See the descriptions below for more information about the physical requirements associated with each rating, and see our itineraries for much more detailed physical activity information about each trip.

Activity Level 1:

Travelers should be able to climb 40 stairs consecutively, plus walk at least 2-3 miles over some uneven surfaces without difficulty. Walks typically last for at least 2-3 hours at a time. Altitude can range from zero to 5,000 feet.

Activity Level 3:

Travelers should be able to climb 60 stairs consecutively, plus walk at least 3 miles over some steep slopes and loose or uneven surfaces without difficulty. Walks typically last for 3 or more hours at a time. Altitude can range from 5,000 to 7,000 feet.

Travelers should be able to climb 80 stairs consecutively, plus walk at least 4 miles over some steep slopes and loose or uneven surfaces without difficulty. Walks typically last for 4 or more hours at a time. Altitude can range from 7,000 to 9,000 feet. Expect three or more one-night stays in some locations, and very limited free time for rest or independent exploration.

The Nefertiti features three five decks with a variety of public spaces, including outdoor seating and dining areas, a bar & lounge, and a dining rooms. Cabins are located on three of the levels. While all 40 cabins feature private balconies, each of the available categories offers its own advantages. The average ceiling height at the entrance doors of the Nefertiti is 5.9 feet; 6.8 feet at the doors of ship’s Reception area; and 6.06 feet at the doors to the Restaurant & Bar/Lounge.

Take in views of daily Egyptian life from your seat on the Aten (Sun) Deck. As you sail, sit back and let the rhythm of everyday life along the river wash over you. Witness Cairo’s graceful felucca sailboats gliding past—while on the opposite bank, a farmer tends to his cattle and children splash in the shallows nearby.

Experience your small ship sailing in and out of Egyptian ports from your private balcony on the Akhenaten Deck. Plus, your cabin is located with easy access to the Sun Deck, so you can make your way topside for panoramic views.

The Meritaten Deck also features a private balcony for two in each cabin, so you can take in views of the Nile from the upper deck. To cool off from the warmth of the Egyptian sun, head one level up to the covered open deck or the dipping pool.

On the Tutankhamun Deck, which also features a private balcony, you’re in close proximity to the reception area and bar & lounge. For relaxation, the lounge features inviting leather couches and soft chairs. When it’s time for meals, head down to our large, open-seating dining room.

The Asiya is a dahabeya, a classic river-yacht that glides between Luxor and Aswan, exclusive to our group of 8-14 travelers (average of 13). Lower Deck

All passenger areas are conveniently located on the Lower Deck. This deck features a small library with board games and a satellite TV. Leading from the library are 8 cabins (approximately 150 square feet each) and 2 large, rear-facing suites measuring about 245 square feet that are available at additional cost. All cabins are air-conditioned and include one panoramic window for private views of the river while drifting along the Nile.

Category A—Suite

Located on the Lower Deck

Lower Deck

All 10 cabins are on the Lower Deck, as well as the library and dining room. Each cabin features individually controlled air-conditioning and large windows for private views of the Nile River. The area at the bow can be used as a place to meet or relax with a cold or hot beverage. There are also board games and satellite TV on board.
