NEW ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR UK AND EUROPE

As of 2/6/25 at 2pm EST

United Kingdom

Starting January 8, 2025, U.S. and Canadian citizens will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, or Wales). This ETA applies to anyone traveling to the UK.

The UK ETA is similar to an e-visa — you will need to apply online. We recommend you apply two weeks in advance, but no later than 3 days before your departure flight. Once approved, the ETA will be good for travel to the UK for 2 years, or until you get a new passport.

The UK ETA applications will be live starting November 27, 2024, available on the official app and the official website. Overseas Adventure Travel will provide instructions to all applicable travelers through their My Planner account. A reminder will also be included with all applicable Final Document booklets. For more information about the ETA, please visit the official website.

Europe

The European Union — a total of 30 countries (see below) — has announced it will require a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) visa-waiver for all U.S. citizens. This new policy is being implemented by the EU to promote stronger border security between the participating European countries, for a safer and more secure Europe.

The ETIAS is similar to an e-visa — you will need to apply online before your departure flight.

At this time, there is no confirmed date for the start of the ETIAS system. Once a date is confirmed and the application process is active, O.A.T. will send instructions to all applicable travelers. A reminder will also be included with all applicable Final Document booklets.

The 30 countries participating in the ETIAS include:
