Cleverly christened “Greenland” by Erik the Red in an effort to attract settlers, 80 percent of this nation’s land mass is covered in ice caps, with picturesque towns and villages clustered along the coasts. After you travel through Iceland, come breathe the pure air, witness the magnificent icebergs, experience the Inuit way of life, and discover a land as exotic as it is remote.

You'll fly from Reykjavik to Kulusuk, East Greenland this afternoon, as the main portion of our Untamed Iceland adventure comes to a close.
Upon our arrival, we'll meet our Trip Leader and check in to our hotel. After a briefing at our hotel, join a walking tour of Kulusuk village. Later this afternoon, discover breathtaking views and rugged mountainsides on an included driving tour. We return to the hotel early in the evening. Enjoy time to relax before gathering for dinner at our hotel.
After breakfast this morning we depart for our helicopter ride to Angmagssalik Island at the mouth of the Angmagssalik Fjord. During the short flight, we’ll have incredible views of the ice-filled sea below.
Just south of the Arctic Circle, Angmagssalik Island has East Greenland’s largest city—Tasiilaq—with a population of 1,900. After hotel check-in and lunch, we visit the Angmagssalik Museum situated in a historic church. Here we learn about Greenlandic history and culture as we view local artworks and artifacts. The afternoon is free to explore the local shops, church and handcrafts workshop of this scenic town at your own pace.
Enjoy dinner tonight at our hotel.
After breakfast, we'll walk to the pier for a boat ride from Tasiilaq to behold the stunning blue- and green-striped icebergs that flow from the Arctic Ocean.
When we return, we'll have lunch at our hotel before hiking through the beautiful Valley of Flowers—a luxuriant valley carpeted with green grass and colored with a kaleidoscope of wildflowers. We'll learn about the unique flora and fauna of this area as we gain a different perspective on the Arctic climes. Later, we'll dive deeper into local culture by watching an Inuit drum dance at our hotel, followed by an included dinner.
After breakfast we will take a helicopter ride back to Kulusuk airport for the flight to Reykjavik. Depending on flight schedules, we enjoy an included lunch either in Kulusuk or Reykjavik.
In Reykjavik we transfer to our hotel, where we’ll spend a final night. Dinner this evening will be on your own.
Enjoy the morning at leisure in Reykjavik before transferring to the airport for your flight home. Please note: Depending on your air itinerary, trips returning in September and October will include an extra night in the U.S. upon arrival. This will not apply to travelers whose final destination is New York or Boston.
