I felt so lucky growing up in Greece, and developed such an admiration for my country. Its natural beauty includes snowcapped mountains, exotic beaches, remote villages, metropolitan cities, and seemingly everything in between. It’s full of historically significant landmarks dating back thousands of years, and some of the most important philosophers—and greatest heroes in human history—were Greeks.
Throughout my twenties I worked in the automobile industry, in a liquor store, in archaeological excavation, and even as a graphic animator for TV. But, if my time in the Greek navy taught me anything about myself, it’s that I was highly adaptable, patient, and most importantly, extremely curious about the world. It was clear that I would need a more adventurous job than these typical professions that kept me in one place. And luckily, I found it by accident.
I moved to the Czech Republic in my thirties, and my first year there is still the most memorable time in my life. I was away from home for the first time, in a completely unknown environment, with no friends, very little money, and no knowledge of the local language.
Thankfully, I had moved there during a time when it was a very popular destination for Greeks. I was offered a job as a tour guide for Greek travelers and it opened my eyes to a new world; tourism completely got the best of me.
From then on, I have worked nearly everywhere in Europe, guided people from all over the world, and continued to indulge my curiosity. I started working as a Trip Leader for O.A.T. in 2016 and the great adventure continues. I absolutely love sharing my country with other curious travelers, and hope you’ll join me as we explore Northern Greece, Albania & Macedonia: Ancient Lands of Alexander the Great.
