A note from our curator, independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
Walking Hanoi is a quietly charming exploration by the talented Dutch-American filmmaker Ehrin Macksey. He tracks a young girl’s discovery of a simple pleasure: walking. Her first “real” walk occurs abroad during a year of study. The practice continues upon her return to Hanoi, and deepens into a favorite activity of self-health. Beautiful cinematography showcases moments of peaceful and low-carbon reflection amidst the hustle and bustle of vibrant and motorized Hanoi. This lifestyle story presents a young girl’s inspiring and simple movement. Her earnest exhortation “to take notice, people” certainly caught my attention!
