A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
The traffic in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) strikes me as organized chaos. Vespa motorbikes weave around pedestrians and dodge oncoming vehicles, exhibiting the confidence that comes from experience. Otherwise, I’d characterize it as insanity. Subio, a musician in Saigon, says the best approach for a pedestrian trying to cross the street is to “just do it,” and expect the Vespas will find a way around you. This is a distinct form of social trust. Sometimes, looking both ways before crossing the street is a futile effort.
