A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
In this heartwarming film, shot and directed by American filmmaker and photographer Noah Friedman-Rudovsky, we are introduced to an emerging Quechuan subculture in the mountainous Chinchero district outside Cusco, Peru: women’s soccer. Chinchero is situated at 12,000 feet in the Sacred Valley. Here, the air is thin. Terraces make the steep landscape productive. The Andes pose challenges to the women's game. So too, has the village’s machismo past. Young footballer Rossy and her mother Luz—through grit, focus, and a love for the game—are expanding the role of women in this community. For anyone enchanted by the high Andes or the aggressive intensities of team sports, this film is a must-watch.
