A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
A couple of years ago, members of our Compass Light production team travelled to Costa Rica’s eastern coastline to learn about the park’s most emblematic animal—the squirrel monkey. Costa Rica’s squirrel monkey population can be found almost exclusively within Manuel Antonio National Park and Corcovado National Park. Conservationist guide Andres Chavez enters the depths of Manuel Antonio, armed with a camera and microphone, to observe–with exuberance–the monkeys in action. The park has gone through great lengths to protect these animals and ensure their population growth. Conservation groups have gone as far as building monkey bridges to ensure safe passage above busy roads. I have so much admiration for those who dedicate themselves to conserving the ecosystems in which they live.
