A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
In this short film, we travel to Aswan, Egypt, home of the Golden People. They are known for their goodness and generosity—and their deep connection to the Nile. For them, the river is the source of life. They drink and sail the Nile. The Nile is home to fish, and food for plants. Since the days of the Pharaohs, these people have honored the Nile and been sustained by its waters. Who are the Golden People today? They are weavers and shopkeepers. Children playing soccer, and men hoisting sails. They speak eloquently about the river, and are proud to call Aswan home. A beautiful portrait of the people of Aswan!
