A note from our curator, independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
The Earth Touch crew takes us to the rocky, isolated beaches of South Georgia, where we are offered a glimpse of the Antarctic wild. Each shot is something to behold: a baby elephant seal rubbing its claw; an iceberg floating in the frigid ocean; two king penguins dancing in a slow-moving, synchronized courtship; another penguin feeding its young. The monolithic, ice-covered mountains serve as a stunning backdrop for the penguin colony (where there are literally thousands of penguins), and I am reminded of how vast—and also how beautiful and precious—this world is.
