A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
The Northern Lights are perhaps one of the most captivating gifts of nature. Dazzling green, blue, and violet lights dance across the sky when electrically charged particles from the sun enter the atmosphere. It’s a sight to behold, and filmmaker Riku Karjalainen captures it beautifully. I love how this short film reminds us of what we fail to see when we don’t stop to behold the world around us or to travel outside of our immediate place and time. Filmed around Finnish Lapland, the scenes capture natural quietude: snow-capped mountains, fog rolling across the still landscape, a sunrise unraveling over the horizon, and, of course, the Northern Lights. There is great power in silence. Take it all in.
