A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
For visitors, Victoria Falls are a breathtaking sight. For the people who live there, the falls are a powerful force. Where there is water, there is life. Filmmaker Auntony Zinyange takes us to the banks of the Zambezi River, where we witness the intense healing properties of this water. Traditional doctor Melusi “Mpisi” Ndlovu collects water and roots from the riverbank for his work in his village nearby. His patients have seen cures for their pneumonia—even for their cancer! How could this happen? We hear the story of a patient with a wound that makes walking painful. With Doctor Mpisi’s knowledge and the Zambezi water, perhaps the suffering from this wound will cease. This film from the ReelEarth collection takes us far from the world of modern western medicine—and into the place-based treatments of Southern Africa. Let the river live!
