Planet Food: Ireland

Posted on 12/12/2017 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

In this episode of Planet Food, host and chef Bobby Chinn takes us on a fantastic culinary crawl across western Ireland. What I love about this trip is that it shows how integral different geography is in forming a representative dish in a certain area. In Delphi Valley, Connemara, Bobby cooks an elaborate dinner with the wild Atlantic salmon he caught fresh that morning. He forages for local ingredients in a forest with a Michelin-star restaurateur, harvests oysters in Galway with a seventh generation oyster pub owner, and learns to cook the perfect rib-eye steak at a country fair in Nenagh. Each person that Bobby speaks with brings a different local ingredient or style into their cooking. I love to see a passion for place manifest in cuisine!

Produced by Silvia Santamaria and Ian Cross
