Planet Food: Delhi, India

Posted on 4/10/2018 12:00:00 AM in What We're Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

Planet Food host Bobby Chinn takes us to the capital of India, Delhi, where we learn how a fusion of cultures, climate, and history have come to shape (and continue to shape) the cuisine of the region. We see the shift from a primarily vegetarian, Hindu-influenced cuisine, to one that embraces meat dishes and employs the use of new cooking techniques and tools, like the tandoori. I love the deep history we learn from Bobby’s guests, but I’m even more delighted by the personal lessons they share about cooking. “My father taught me that when I’m cooking, my mind should be in the pot, with the pot,” says chef and author Gunjan Goela. “You are what you eat.”

Produced by Anika Pilnei, Ian Sciacaluga, and Ian Cross
