A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
This film visits Kyoto’s much beloved landmarks: the Golden Pavilion, the Torii gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha, and Kiyomizu Temple—to name a few. Fast paced though it may be, the film offers a mindful glimpse into the pace of life here. Monks walk through temples with purpose. The rock gardens at Ryoanji Temple are tended, stone by stone. The sunlight peaks through the tops of each bamboo tree in the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. We feel breath and life in every moment, every snowflake and leaf, every sunset and sunrise.
