A note from our curator, independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
Lifelong friends Regina and Pat—otherwise known as Grannies on Safari—decided that they were going to make their own travel series. So they did. They claim it is the only broadcast travel series hosted by African-American women. This episode in Morocco goes from Fez to Essaouira, Volubilis and Casablanca. I love the Grannies’ curiosity and adventurous spirit—bring it on! Camels in the Sahara, tree-climbing goats, argan oil production, and, my favorite of all their stops, a visit to a Berber family in the Atlas Mountains.
