Earth Diaries: Angkor Wat

Posted on 10/3/2017 12:00:00 AM in What We're Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

Cambodia’s Angkor Wat is the largest complex of religious temples in the world, and among the most breathtaking as well. The central Angkor temple was built under the rule of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. The structural features of the Temple mapped the known universe of the Hindu religion. The highest central tower is Mount Meru, the sacred home of Hindu divinity. The surrounding towers symbolize peaks of Meru. On a walk through the stone corridors of the complex, stories from the Ramayana can be read through the carvings on the corridor wall. I recommend reading a little history before going.
