CNNGo in Kyoto

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

This episode of CNNGo epitomizes perfect winter activities during a day in Kyoto, Japan. Sake brewer Makoto Arimoto says the best sake is brewed when it’s the coldest, making winter a perfect time to enjoy a cup. After a morning of brewing, Makoto wanders into a coffee shop to enjoy serene music and a hot drink, noting that “the only way to find a place like this is to walk the streets to stumble upon it.” I often find this to be true: both when exploring new and familiar places, the best discoveries can be found when you let natural curiosity lead the way. Architect Higashijima visits the snowy Kibune Shrine in northeast Kyoto. He notes that buses are available for transport, but he (similarly to Makoto’s attitude towards discovery) enjoys walking.
