While traveling on our Nepal & the Mystical Himalayas adventure with an extension in Bhutan, we passed several women working to plant rice in a rice paddy. I asked our Trip Experience Leader, Resh, if there was a possibility of working with them to see what it was like.
After we had stopped for lunch, we returned to the area and Resh asked the women if they would let the two of us join them. The women thought it was pretty funny, but gave us shoots of rice and showed us how to plant them. We waded into the paddy in the mud and spent about a half hour with the women planting the rice. They really got a kick out of it, and we got to feel how tiring it was bending over planting each individual plant.
We then went to one of their houses and we bought sodas for the ladies and sat around having a great time. This was an experience I never thought I would have and made the trip very memorable.
