Mysterious Moai

Posted on 4/10/2018 12:00:00 AM in Traveler Insights

By John R., 5-time traveler & 3-time Vacation Ambassador from Northville, MI

My wife, Lesley, had dreamed of going to Easter Island ever since she was in elementary school. The Moai and the culture that built these mysterious statues had always intrigued her. We were finally able to make her dream a reality when we spent two days visiting Easter Island in January ... and it did not disappoint! As we visited the sites throughout the island, we began to discover the cultural complexities of the ancestors that built and moved these giant statues. Each site was interesting in its own unique way and told the story of a civilization that simply ran out of resources on the island and moved on. We highly recommend a visit to Easter Island. For us, it was an experience that we'll never forget.

Do you create videos or video collages from your photos after you return from a trip? We’d love to see your work. Email a link to [email protected].

Discover the fascinating history of Easter Island during our optional post-trip extension on The Wilderness Beyond: Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego & the Chilean Fjords.
