There may be no other nation on the planet that guards and stewards its natural world with such care and passion as Costa Rica. For almost two weeks, we’ll discover a broad spectrum of Costa Rica’s unspoiled natural diversity in rain forests, in cloud-shrouded mountains, along jungle rivers, on foot, and by boat. And as spectacular as the habitats are their denizens—scarlet macaws, a rainbow of butterflies, crocodiles, howler and capuchin monkeys and even (if your eyes are quick and sharp) the resplendent quetzal, legendary among birders.

If exploring at ground level isn’t enough, our optional tours of the forest from above will be available, taking you into the unique environment high in the canopy of the tropical forest. You’ll also learn about the Costa Rican way of life during activities like a school visit and home-hosted lunch. And of course, there’s ample time for you: dip into a thermal pool and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of authentic lodges and inns.

To make your experience even more complete, you can add pre- and post-trip extensions to two additional Costa Rican national parks. Begin your trip on the Pacific Coast exploring the primary tropical forests of Corcovado National Park. And after your trip, ply the waterways of Tortuguero National Park, the lush jungle habitat of the endangered green turtle, which can only be explored by boat. However you configure your vacation, you can look forward to experiencing Costa Rica at its natural best.
