Centuries-old frescoes greet us from courtyard walls, and masterpieces from Botticelli’s portraits to Michelangelo’s sculptures seem to meet our eyes with their own, inviting us to stroll down the streets once walked by their creators. Neighboring Umbria is equally rich in culture and landscape. Named for the Italian word for shadow, Umbria is a land of mystery and enchantment, notable for its medieval villages, Etruscan treasures, scenic splendor, and legendary saints. We’ll discover the authentic pleasures of both regions on a personal scale during a winetasting ... a home-hosted meal ... a private cooking class … and more—as only an OAT small group can.
