Join us for a visit to Champagne, Alsace, and Lorraine to explore their magical vineyards, medieval villages, and historic cities. For centuries France's northeast region of Champagne—and its capital of Reims—was the site of coronation of French Kings. Now the region with its limestone-rich soil and rolling vineyards is known foremost for the bubbly wine that is synonymous for celebration the world over. And further nestled into the northeastern frontier, Alsace and Lorraine are storybook landscapes of fortified villages, and charming half-timbered homes adorned with flower-clad balconies. Alsace, with its distinctive culture and close German ties, is a land of fertile vineyards and turreted castles bordered by the Rhine, and we’ll discover its flowery white wines, distinctive cuisine, and gracious inhabitants of this proud region. Over the mountains, Lorraine is an unspoiled region of gently rolling landscapes with a more French character. Our adventure begins with a night in Paris, followed by two nights in Reims, 7 nights onboard, and two in Colmar. Raise your glass to a memorable journey along some of France’s most scenic waterways by private barge to discover this very special corner of the country.
