Once proudly independent, and home to some of the most important monastic orders that kept alive the flame of learning in medieval Europe, Burgundy has a rich history that we’ll uncover with visits to Romanesque sites, ruined abbeys, and beautiful Renaissance buildings. Burgundy’s cultural riches are only rivalled by its agricultural wealth and renowned cuisine—many of the most famous French dishes like boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, escargots, and, of course, Dijon mustard all come from here. Before our cruise, we spend two nights in Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and end our journey of discovery with a night in Paris.
