Off the bow, pink and gray river dolphins perform acrobatic leaps. Tamarins and squirrel monkeys play in the branches of trees. Macaws call from the shore. The sights and sounds of the Amazon envelop us as we cruise deeper and deeper into the unspoiled rain forest, magnetized by its mystery and awed by its majesty. Aboard a classic riverboat, we'll sail along the world's second-longest river for six nights, following it to its origin—the convergence of the Ríos Marañon and Ucayali. Our small group will explore this mighty river's network of lakes and tributaries in small boats—alighting to observe the earth's rarest animals. We'll paddle dugout canoes, ascend to the rain forest canopy, fish for piranha, and learn the ways of the Ribereños on this magical passage through the Amazon.
