If you purchase Overseas Adventure Travel Guaranteed Travel Protection Plan and must cancel your trip before your scheduled departure, for any reason not covered by the plan, you will receive an Overseas Adventure Travel Voucher for the penalty amount with the balance of the refund, if due, made either by check or credit card credit. Please note, the Overseas Adventure Travel Pre-Departure Cancellation Waiver does not cover penalties associated with: 1) ocean cruise arrangements; or 2) air or other travel arrangements not provided by Overseas Adventure Travel. The Travel Protection Plan cannot be purchased after you have made your final payment or once you are inside the penalty period, whichever comes first. Conditions & Limitations
Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are detailed in the Certificate of Coverage which will be sent to you after you reserve your trip and is also available to you, upon request, at any time prior to your purchase of the plan. For example, coverage does not apply to: any sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 60 days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is waived if you purchase coverage within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel when you make your plan payment), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous disorders. Other Covered Events, as defined, includes the following events or their consequences: 1) Post-Departure Trip Interruption due to cancellation of arrangements by an airline, cruise line or tour operator due to strike, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft on which you are scheduled to travel or bad weather (Maximum of $150 per day/$750 total) or 2) cancellation or interruption of your trip due to: a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; jury duty; destruction of your residence by a natural disaster; or a documented theft of passports or visas. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person booked to share accommodations in the same room with you during your trip. Sickness or Injury must require care by a Physician and must commence while the Travel Protection Plan is in force for you. This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in effect for you.
The Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit, Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Travel Delay are provided by Overseas Adventure Travel/Grand Circle Travel (for New York Residents, all of these benefits except the Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit are insurance benefits underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, Eatontown, NJ). All other benefits are underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, Eatontown, NJ. The Travel Protection Plan is administered by Trip Mate, Inc. (In California, Trip Mate Insurance Agency, Inc.). This is a brief description of the plan benefits and services and applies to all trip departures in 2010 and after.
