Who is eligible to become a OAT Group Leader?

Anyone who assembles a group of 10 or more paying travelers for a Overseas Adventure Travel adventure.

Trip Type Compensation
OAT Land or Small Ship Adventure 1 free trip* for 10 paying travelers; the 11th person's trip is free
OAT African Safaris 1 free trip* for 15 paying travelers; the 16th person’s trip is free

*Free trip is based upon average amount paid per person, including the tour price, extensions, and air add-ons. Excludes taxes, port charges, Travel Protection Plan, Business Class upgrades, Good Buy discounts, and applied Vacation Ambassador credits.

As a Group Leader, am I expected to 'help out' during the trip?

No. Once your adventure begins, your OAT Trip Leader will take care of you and your group every step of the way.

What happens if I can't get the minimum numbers of travelers needed to make a group?

Without at least 11 travelers on a Small Ship Adventure or Land Adventure**, no group discount will be issued. You may, however be eligible to receive referral credit for a future OAT adventure through our Vacation Ambassador program.

*Vacation Ambassador incentives cannot be combined with Group Leader incentives. For more information about our Referral program, call our Adventure Specialists toll-free at 1-800-955-1925.

**OAT African Safaris require at least 15 paying travelers

How do I get started?

Call our Group Sales Account Representatives toll-free at 1-800-353-6262 and select option #3. We'll be happy to help you become a OAT Group Leader.

What is the best way to promote my trip?

You can write a letter to your prospective travelers, accompanied by an OAT catalog that includes details of your trip. Or, refer your group members to our website for more trip information. Additionally, we can provide promotional materials upon request.

Why does the Group Leader pay a deposit?

Our reservation system keeps all of our travelers on an automated time-line. By providing us with a deposit, you, the Group Leader, will receive all the information that your group passengers receive along the way.

When do I receive credit for my FREE* trip?

Group Leader compensation is reimbursed to you through your OAT account 7-10 days prior to your departure.

*Group Leader travel credits are based on the average net amount paid by group passengers excluding all taxes, port charges, Travel Protection Plan, Business Class upgrades, Good Buy discounts, and applied Vacation Ambassador credits. Frequent Travel Credits cannot be earned by travelers who received a free trip on their reservation.

Can my group members make their own reservations?

Yes, we recommend it! Your Group Sales Representative will provide you with a Group Number and Service Code after you become a Group Leader. Your group members need to provide this information when they make their reservation, to ensure that you are properly credited for all your hard work.

Will there be travelers other than my group members on our OAT adventure?

It depends on the size of your group. If you don't fill the entire trip, we will fill the remaining places with other OAT travelers.

Can I receive cash in lieu of a free trip?

YES—ask your Group Sales Account Representative for more details.
