Here’s how OAT travelers have captured moments of discovery, beauty, friendship, and fun on previous departures of our Ultimate Africa: Botswana, Zambia & Zimbabwe Safari adventure. We hope these will evoke special travel memories and inspire you to submit your own favorite OAT trip photos.
“While the ladies were shopping in an outdoor market, one of our fellow travelers was entertaining the local boys. The children were quite fascinated by the MP3 player and 'noise' from the earphones. A bit of learning and discovery…” Photographer George LoPresti, 4-time traveler from Mount Laurel, New Jersey, caught this moment of delight.
Riding in a nearby 4X4, photographer Alan Yap, 7-time traveler from Longmont, Colorado, perfectly framed the thrilling scene: "Nothing beats the excitement of being so close up to a herd of thundering elephants heading for the water. 'Follow them!' seems to be what our guide Mandla is saying."
The life-rich Okavango Delta, one of the world’s largest inland deltas, attracts countless numbers and species of wildlife during its peak flooding season (May to October). As photographer and 9-time traveler from Linden, Virginia, Dick Fejfar illustrates, the best, and least obtrusive way to view the thirsty animals close-up is by dugout canoe.
A bird’s-eye vantage point offers the best full-scale view of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls—the world’s largest cascade. Lorrie Dorr, 7-time traveler from Port Orange, Florida, joined the optional flight excursion to view this UNESCO World Heritage Site in all its glory.
Seizing a stellar—and rare—opportunity, photographer and 6-time traveler John Stewart of Newport Beach, California, fixes his focus on a majestic lioness, beautifully illuminated on the Botswana savannah.

Please be sure to include the name of your OAT adventure, along with the travel dates. Tell us where you took the photo and, if you’d like, tell us why. And don’t forget to include your name and contact information.
