Photos From Our Travelers
On location in Europe
Here’s how OAT travelers have captured moments of discovery, beauty, friendship, and fun on previous departures of our Treasures of the Aegean: Greek Island Cruise, Athens & Istanbul adventure. We hope these will evoke special travel memories and inspire you to submit your own favorite OAT trip photos.
With the colors of Greece flying high as a backdrop, the afternoon “happy” hour is underway on the Aegean Sea. Four-time traveler, Bill Tackett, of Cypress, California, doesn’t have to ask the relaxed and merry crew to “smile” for his camera.
In the ancient village of Arachova, near Delphi, Carlos Jimenez, 6-time traveler from Orchard Park, New York, was about to indulge in the wonderful local corn, seasoned and roasted on a corner grill. Ronald Schaefer, first-time OAT traveler from Golden, Colorado, gets ear-to-ear grins for this shot.
Since women aren’t allowed to wear pants at the ancient monasteries of Meteora, skirts are provided, offering Fred Bernstein, 7-time traveler from Morristown, New Jersey, a shot at fashion photography. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the amazing monasteries were built 600 years ago, on sky-high rock pinnacles.
Marge Ricker, a 19-time traveler from Winter Garden, Florida—and chronicler of great moments—offered this back-story to her illustration: “As we sailed from Corfu to Itea, our captain dropped anchor so that we could swim in the warm, cobalt-blue Ionian Sea. This lighthearted activity was a lovely change of pace, typical of what makes an OAT trip special.”
“We had just finished a Home-Hosted lunch and were preparing to walk back to our bus when this mirthful Greek woman came along up the narrow road. My husband Ted asked if she would pose with him and she readily agreed.” Tonia Dandrow captured the camaraderie; she and Ted are 11-time travelers from Schenectady, New York.
