Customize your trip

With our True Choice Program, you can choose to stay longer before or after your trip on your own, or combine two adventures to maximize your value. Here are more ways to create the OAT adventure that’s right for you:

  • Choose our standard air routing, or work with us to select the airline and routing you prefer
  • Make your own international flight arrangements directly with the airline, applying frequent flyer miles if available
  • Stay overnight in a connecting city before or after your trip
  • Request to arrive a few days early to get a fresh start on your adventure
  • Choose to “break away” before or after your trip, spending additional days or weeks on your own
  • Extend your adventure with our optional pre- and post-trip extensions
  • Combine your choice of OAT adventures to maximize your value
  • Upgrade to business or premium economy class

The air options listed above will involve an additional fee of $100 per person for confirmed requests (as well as incremental airfare costs based on your specific choice). This service fee will be waived for Inner Circle/Sir Edmund Hillary Club members.

From your tented camp, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

It's Included

  • Accommodations for 1 night in Arusha and 2 nights at our tented camp with views of Mount Kilimanjaro
  • 9 meals—3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 3 dinners
  • 4 small group activities
  • Services of a local guide
  • All transfers
Day 1
Depart U.S.

You’ll depart the U.S. in the evening and spend the night crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Amsterdam.

Day 2
Arrive Arusha, Tanzania via Amsterdam

You arrive in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in the morning. After a short stop, you depart on a non-stop flight for Arusha, Tanzania. You arrive late in the evening. An OAT driver-guide will meet you at the airport to assist your transfer to your first lodge, where you'll enjoy a Welcome Dinner.

Day 3
Enjoy nature walk with Maasai guides

We have breakfast, and your driver-guide gives you a safari briefing. If the sky is clear, you’ll have spectacular views of 19,340-foot Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance and of 14,980-foot Mount Meru, located in Arusha National Park. We then head to our rustic camp, where we will spend the next two days. We arrive shortly after noon, traveling in 4x4 vehicles designed for comfort and maximum visibility. An experienced, English-speaking safari guide drives each vehicle.

After a delicious lunch, we set out on a late-afternoon walking safari with a Maasai guide before returning to camp for dinner.

Day 4
Enjoy Sinya game-viewing drive/Maasai village visit

This morning, as dawn breaks over the east African plains, we are up and out for an early morning game-viewing drive. Elephants are easily spotted, while harder-to-find lions and cheetah slip quietly through the tall grasses of the savanna. In addition, we usually discover a wealth of birdlife.

We return to camp for breakfast and then set out for a visit to the nearby Maasai village. The Maasai are best known for the elaborate and beautiful beadwork that adorns their bodies. They are a proud people, once much-feared as warriors, who now tend cattle, often moving large herds across the African plains. We visit their village.

Day 5
Morning game-viewing drive/Return to Arusha

We begin the day early with a discovery-filled game-viewing drive. We return to our camp for brunch. After time to freshen up and pack, we then begin our return trip to Arusha to start our Safari Serengeti: Tanzania Lodge & Tented Safari adventure.
