Customize your trip

With our True Choice Program, you can choose to stay longer before or after your trip on your own, or combine two adventures to maximize your value. Here are more ways to create the OAT adventure that’s right for you:

  • Choose our standard air routing, or work with us to select the airline and routing you prefer
  • Make your own international flight arrangements directly with the airline, applying frequent flyer miles if available
  • Stay overnight in a connecting city before or after your trip
  • Request to arrive a few days early to get a fresh start on your adventure
  • Choose to “break away” before or after your trip, spending additional days or weeks on your own
  • Extend your adventure with our optional pre- and post-trip extensions
  • Combine your choice of OAT adventures to maximize your value
  • Upgrade to business or premium economy class

The air options listed above will involve an additional fee of $100 per person for confirmed requests (as well as incremental airfare costs based on your specific choice). This service fee will be waived for Inner Circle/Sir Edmund Hillary Club members.

Or, when you make your reservation, you can choose our standard air routing, for which approximate travel times are shown below.

Optional Tours

Expand your discoveries with our optional tours

Day 5:
Tho Ha Countryside $60 per person
T10461

After a 90-minute motorcoach drive and a short ride in a small local ferry, you’ll discover the wonderful architecture and hard-working, friendly people of this rural village. The main industries here are making rice paper and pig farming. After visiting a local family to see rice paper in the making, we’ll walk the village and mingle with the locals. It’s a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of rural life in Vietnam.

Day 10:
Cyclo-Rickshaw Ride and Thu Bon River Cruise $50 per person

We’ll travel by cyclo-rickshaw to Cam Nam village, view Hoi An’s historic cityscape from a different vantage point during a cruise along the lovely Thu Bon River, and sample a slice of daily life at the central market. We’ll dine at a riverside restaurant, enjoying local cuisine with the panorama of the city’s eclectic architecture before us.

Day 14:
Dalat Agricultural $60 per person
T17046

We'll stop at a market garden to learn about flower-growing in this region. We'll also visit a silk worm factory and discover the process of silk-making from its very beginning. Then we'll continue on to the isolated traditional village of Buon Chuoi (Banana Village) to meet the Chil people, a hill tribe that practices subsistence farming. We'll return to Dalat for lunch.

Day 16:
Cu Chi Tunnels $60 per person
T9976

The South Vietnamese communists, or Viet Vong, built this vast network of tunnels in and around the village of Cu Chi and worked continually over 25 years to expand the multi-level network, which includes mess halls, meeting rooms, an operating theater, a tiny cinema, small factories, and vast ammunition stores. Spend some time examining this 125-mile-long underground maze where thousands of fighters and villagers hid and fought during the Vietnam War. We return to Ho Chi Minh City in time for an included lunch at a local restaurant.
