Making this Thanksgiving a little sweeter
I think helping others is a natural thing to do around Thanksgiving. As we reflect upon all of the wonderful things in our lives, we also think about what we have to spare—and how even a small contribution can make an enormous difference in the lives of community members in need.
Each Thanksgiving at Grand Circle and OAT, we make giving back a company-wide event by participating in a special program called Pie in the Sky. More than 150 local bakers and restaurateurs donate freshly baked pies for the event, which are sold by volunteers throughout the Boston area for $25 each. Proceeds benefit Community Servings, an organization that delivers freshly prepared, nutritious meals twice a day to more than 700 critically ill patients and family members.
As with every community service event that we organize at our corporate headquarters, our associates take fundraising duties seriously. We sold 227 pies this year and $6,920 was sent to Community Servings.
Read our story in News & Views to learn more about both Pie in the Sky and Community Servings—two wonderful causes that I’m proud to support each year.
