It’s A Woman’s World, after all
Christopher Columbus. Marco Polo. Henry Hudson. As children, we learned all about these men—and other famous male explorers—in school. But what about Gertrude Bell, Lucy Walker, Ruth Harkness, and the scores of women like them who defied the conventions of their day to realize their own dreams of global discovery?
When I think of the obstacles these intrepid women faced—threats to both to their physical safety and their psychological well-being—I’m all the more amazed by their achievements. I’m also inspired to continue their legacy by exploring as many different countries and cultures in this wide, wonderful world of ours as I can!
In fact, that’s one of the reasons why my team and I made A Woman’s World: Our Journeys and Dreams, a short film featuring some of the women who’ve traveled with OAT and Grand Circle—and the unforgettable, empowering experiences they’ve enjoyed with us on the open road.
My hope is that, after you watch this film, you’ll share it with your sister, your mother, and your girlfriends—and, like Gertrude, Lucy, and Ruth before us, be inspired to embark on your own trailblazing journey.
