Embracing the Pan-Mass Challenge
Alan has been biking in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) for the past several years now, and this weekend he, Charlotte, and I will tackle the challenge together. All three of us have known friends and family members who have bravely battled cancer, and this is our way of honoring them.
Of course, the hardest part of any physical challenge is the training. I’m learning to appreciate muscles that I’ve never really used before—and I enjoy knowing that my body (with the moral support of my family) is actually capable of taking me 90 miles. (Alan and I are riding 90, but Charlotte will ride a hundred miles more!) Riding in the PMC is especially pleasant because it’s not a race, but a ride ... although this weekend it could get hot! And it's definitely a challenge—which is practically a buzzword in our family. You can’t be in the travel business if you don’t like a good challenge!
Most importantly, we’re committed to raising awareness and support for cancer research.
Alan, Charlotte, and I aren’t the only ones at OAT embracing this challenge. A team of our associates rides every year, and you can meet one of them, Brian Gannon, in News & Views. You can also read Charlotte’s story about her positive experience riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge last year.
A special thanks to all of our riders. You are truly going the extra mile for a very important cause.
